Back to School

This week it was back to school time for Mayson and me.  She has made a great transition back to Angie's daycare and has been playing with her friends Noah and Reese.  Since the weather has been so warm, they all went to the splash pad today to play in the water. To celebrate the momentous week we had a little back to school fashion show, and of course our first, first-day-of-school picture together.

Labor Day at the Ocean

We decided to try camping round 2 with Mayson just to make sure the tears from the week before were tooth and cold related instead of an aversion to the great outdoors.  We went to the coast by Westport and had a great time checking out the sand and waves and enjoying a sunset BBQ on the beach.  She saw frogs at the campsite, had a good sleep, and didn't even find out we ate Smore's without her.

Chompers

The 9 month milestone brought in the teeth!  Two bottom teeth in one week!  I've been trying to get a good picture of them, but she's moving now too so it's been a challenge.  If you look really close in the video you might get a peek.

Scooter

Seriously, the minute Mayson turned 9 months old, she exploded into action.  Within the week she had two bottom teeth and was mobile.  She has started "scooting" which looks a whole lot like crawling.  She just has to figure out how to get on those knees.  What motivated her to scoot across the room? Paper.  I love the panting sound effects too!

9 Months and Camping

Mayson turned 9 months old during the last week of August, and to celebrate, we decided to take her on her first camping trip.  We packed up the 1976 Pilgrim and drove to Penrose Point State Park near Gig Harbor.  We had a nice little spot in the woods, and settled in for some fun times.  Mayson loved it at first and had a great time exploring her bunk...for about 10 minutes.  Then the tears started.  We really thought she didn't like camping.  It wasn't until after a sleepless night that we realized she had her first tooth come in overnight, had a cold, and was suffering from her 9 month shots the day before. So, we're going to assume she actually likes camping and it was the pain combo that was the problem.  Too bad we were so slow to figure things out, I think Tylenol might have helped.  Oops. We did have a great time stopping at Pt. Defiance park on the way home for a fun beach outing. Note in the all the pictures she is trying out her new tooth!

First Hiking Trip

A couple of weeks ago we took Mayson on her first hiking trip.  We drove up to Denny Creek and hiked up to the rock water slide area and beyond to the beautiful waterfall via Melakwa Lake.  We figured we would start with a 4 mile hike since we didn't know how Mayson would do in her backpack for a longer trip.  She did great!  I think she could have gone a lot further...The problem was we weren't in good enough shape to carry her much further!  We had a lunch stop at the river rock slide, and Mayson had a little nap on the hike back.  It was a beautiful summer day!
