Fairbanks
We had a fabulous time in Fairbanks for Andrea's wedding! We had fun hanging out around the Alaska Coffee Roasting Company with Carrie and Megan, and Mayson had a great time running around Pioneer Park and riding on her first train. Katie's parents were fantastic hosts, and Mayson had so much fun playing with Amara and Caleb, Katie's niece and nephew. They chased her around the house, played games, showed her their slide, and let her sample from their beautiful garden. They even planned a sunny picnic with fresh picked crops. Mayson loved every minute! Andrea's wedding was at a beautiful garden farm right out of Sunset magazine. She and John looked wonderful and happy! We were so excited to be a part of their special day. Mayson loved the wood-fired pizzas and salad from the farm, and we had a fun time on the boat while Mayson slept.

In with August
We are loving the hot August weather now that the sun is here! The month started off a little rough with Mayson getting sick with some mystery virus that we thought was strep throat. She was totally unlike herself for almost a week, doing things that are unheard of for her: laying down on the floor crying, not eating, not smiling....at one point she was so sad about feeling so crummy she had to go in the corner and just cry by herself for a little bit. Thankfully she snapped out of it and we got our happy smiler back; just in time for Katie's visit! We had a fun day with Katie taking the water taxi to Alki Beach on a beautiful 90 degree day. That night, we helped celebrate Andrea's upcoming wedding with a bachelorette party (Mayson got out her party beads for the occasion and flirted with all of the girls). She spent the rest of the weekend working on some drama queen poses. We continued the fun this weekend with a trip to the beach at Carkeek Park, a street party on Capital Hill, and some fun at the Greenlake wading pool. Off to Fairbanks for Andrea's wedding next weekend!
ABC Master
Mayson has been doing an amazing job with her alphabet. She can look at any letter now and read it. She's obsessed: She stops in the mall and on streets to read the letters on signs. She even knows all of her numbers now! We had a great time in the back yard last night, counting to ten with our chairs on the deck. Smart girl! I've been trying to get video to show it, but she becomes more interested in the camera than her letters. Here is some footage reading her favorite Dr. Seuss ABC book:
